Jude's Kitchen: Mulled pomegranate warmer

Welcome to Jude's Kitchen, our collection of bladder-kind recipes! Some food and drinks are known to irritate the bladder, so every month we'll create recipes that are as delicious as they are good for your bladder. That way, you can still enjoy the food you love while making your bladder happy.

The festive period is upon us, but as fizzy drinks, alcohol, hot chocolate and citrus fruits can all be bladder irritants, it can be difficult to know what to drink.

No to worry! Jude's Kitchen has developed a wintery warm version of mulled 'wine'.

This warming alcohol-free drink is full of festive spices, antioxidants and juicy berries. The recipe is super versatile, so also try it with blackberries, grape juice and fresh muddled cranberries to find your favourite blend.

Mulled Pomegranate Warmer

Serves 2 - 3

Ingredients

400ml pomegranate juice

200ml cranberry juice

2 star anise

6 cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

1 slice of orange

To serve

Thyme or rosemary sprigs

Slice of orange (optional)

Method

Add all your ingredients to a large saucepan

Bring to the boil then simmer on low for 15-20 minutes

Tip... you can also add everything to the slow cooker and cook on low for 1.5 hours — perfect when you're entertaining!

Once the pan is steaming and the colour is deeper (add some brown sugar if you like it sweet!) remove from the heat and strain to remove the orange slice and spices.

Serve in latte glasses if you have them, if not, any thick glass tumbler or even a mug will do.
Pop a garnish of rosemary and half an orange slice into the glass

Enjoy!
